Resumen    Los ejemplares de especies exóticas que son ofertados a los núcleos zoológicos por parte de los particulares o autoridades competentes en la materia, constituyen un problema hoy día debido a su número (en aumento) y al vacío legal que existe en relación a este tema. La falta de una respuesta adecuada por parte de las instituciones a este problema puede tener consecuencias nefastas para el medio ambiente sobre todo si los particulares deciden su suelta al medio natural. En esta comunicación aportamos la experiencia del ZooBotánico de Jerez en esta materia durante estos años y la necesidad de articular mediadas efectivas por parte de la administración que solucionen este problema. Abstract    Every year, an increasing number of exotic animals are offered by public to permanently place them at Zoos. This is an important problem as the number of specimens of certain species is increasing very rapidly and there is no legal disposition about the subject. The lack of an appropriate response by official institutions may favour the releasing of the animals in wildness with great consequences for the environment.
